CITIZENS
TRUST BANK
YOUR STORY IS OUR STORY
Citizens Trust Bank is one of the first Black-owned banks in the U.S. We helped them create the first brand campaign in the bank’s 100-year history, by telling the story of their founding. In 1921, Mr. Heman Perry was turned away from buying sock at a white-owned story in Atlanta. This moment of discrimination gave him the idea to start a bank for the Black community, providing equal access to wealth to buy homes and start businesses.
See more of the story on The Drum and MediaPost.
To create the campaign, we took over an Atlanta street and recreated the 1920s to show Mr. Perry’s moment of inspiration.
We followed it up with a :15 and :06s showing the impact the bank is having today, with mortgage and small business messages.
BRAND ACT & SOCIAL: SOCKS WITH A STORY
Mr. Heman Perry was denied buying socks in that white-owned store. So we created Socks With a Story, limited-edition Heman Perry tribute socks that took 100 years to make.
